Diva eXchange: Fun Eco-Fashion

Diva eXchange: Fun Eco-Fashion

July 2010

I attended my first (of many more) Diva eXchange on Saturday.  I had no intentions of shopping but it only took me seven minutes to break my two-year shopping hiatus.

Diva eXchange is a party where guests are encouraged to bring items from their homes that they no longer want or use.  This includes clothes, jewelry, shoes, scarves, purses, nighties, accessories, clean kitchen appliances, entertainment items--anything that is taking up space and energy in your life.  You replace them with items that you do want.  Don't worry Ladies, you're sure to find something.  I can almost guarantee you will find many somethings.  I did.

I've know about these parties for months.  Now I wonder why it took me so long to go!  I found more than an arm load of clothes and three pair of shoes.  I also found my shopper self.  The one that loves finding that oh-so-perfect-this-was-made-just-for-me article of clothing.  In an effort to simplify and reduce the clutter in my life, I have avoided shopping for the past two years.  This is different though--mostly because the items are not brand new but also because I know that when I am tired of what I have, I can take it back and eXchange if for something else!  I can finally shop again without feeling guilty.  And woowwwzerrs, it feels great!

Diva eXchange is also a safe space for divas to meet, laugh, share and connect.  Getting a fresh wardrobe is magical but so is spending an afternoon shopping with fun, dynamic women.  So what do you think? Are you diva enough to do it?

For upcoming events, fan Diva eXchange on Facebook or host your own Diva eXchange.

Other tips:

* Bring a friend. Or two.

* Bring your business cards and/or flyers for the Networking Table.

* BYOB - Bring Your Own Bags (to put your items in - the fancier the better!).

* Items not swapped will be given to the charity of choice of the Host, and a voluntary donation of $20 is also requested and appreciated to benefit the charity.  Small price to pay for what you'll get out of it!
