Thank you to all our loyal customers,

After 2 years as the market managers at Green Market at Discovery Green, Central City co-op has decided to exit as the market manager. Our last day at Market will be Sunday the 21st of March. Our core business as a co-operative has grown tremendously in recent years, and we are turning our energies inward to foster that growth and create more opportunities across the city for our partner farmers and businesses.

We have had such a wonderful experience working with Discovery Green to develop this new market! It has been an exciting 2 years, where we have made new friends and helped bring sustainable agriculture and businesses to the very heart of the city. Our current manager, Sara Eakens, has given 18 months to the market, building relationships with her always sunny disposition and her wonderful ability to keep things rolling, no matter the weather or mishap that may come her way. Sara is moving on to her next adventure, and we wish her happy. She will always be part of the Co-op family, and part of the wonderful community at Discovery Green.

Co-op will continue to play a supporting role in the Farmer's Market community, both at Discovery Green and beyond. As we have always done in our 9 year history, we will shop markets for new farmers and products to bring into the Co-op, we will man information booths to teach people about sustainable agriculture in our community, and we will work in the greater community to promote and support the development of Farmer's Markets, sustainability and community involvement in agriculture.

Green Market News for March 7

This week Green Market features live music by local musician Holly Vernon from 1 PM- 4 PM.
The Houston Hooperstahs will be hooping and grooving from 3-5 pm.

Nate's Recycled Art--fun and funky art made out of found objects
Natural Living-- clothing made of all organic fibers, hand-painted designs
This week we are joined by Magnolia Park Community Garden. Texans Together guides residents, but residents are the backbone of the community garden: growing the food, maintaining the grounds, and distributing the food to those in need. The garden also provides a space for after school activities and summer programs. Folks from this wonderful community garden will be bringing bags of arugula, spinach, lettuce and much more to Green Market this weekend. Come show your support!

Central City Co-op will be manning the information booth. We will have some yummy fruit to snack on and answers to all your questions about being a member of our co-op community.
