Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Houston Green Scene!
March 2010 In this issue: 5 tips to help really green your St. Patrick’s Day Next Green Mixer – 04/16/10 Featured Event: 2010 Earth Day Houston 5K, Celebration and Green Expo Featured Business: Byrd’s Market HGS Notes: Find us on-line, on TV and around town. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Click here for more. 5 Tips to help really green your St. Patrick’s Day: 1. Wear Organic Green Tees: Wear an organic cotton or bamboo tee. This way, regardless of the color, it really is green! 2. Drink Local or Organic Beer: Try a beer brewed right here in Houston from St. Arnold’s Brewery—and they have quite a variety! 3. Avoid Plastic Disposable Decorations: Cheap plastic accessories such as beads and plastic shamrock rings usually just get thrown out the next day, only to end up in landfills. 4. Eat Local & Organic: Eating delicious meals is a holiday favorite, this year make it local and organic. 5. Tint your local, organic beer with natural dye: Artificial food coloring is nasty--especially Green No. 3, which has been prohibited in the European Union and some other countries. Try Chefmaster’s all- natural green or vegan food coloring. Regardless of how you green your St. Patty’s day, be safe and enjoy! GREEN MIXER: Mix & mingle with the green-friendly, green-minded & green-curious.
