At Home

Got Houseplants?

Spend a little on houseplants, get a lot--of oxygen! Plants inside your house both clean the air and provide fresh oxygen.

Wash Your Clothes in Cold

Wash your clothes only in cold water. I don’t use hot water for anything anymore, and our clothes are just as clean. Cost you: zero, zip!

Clean Behind Fridge & Save $

Keep your fridge coils clean. How long has it been since you've cleaned the back or underside of your fridge? The filth uses electricity--clean it and save.

Weatherstrip Doors & Windows

Replace the weatherstripping on your doors and windows. Stop the cold air from getting in and the heat from coming in!! Cost about 5 bucks a roll.

Install A Programmable Thermostat

Install a programmable thermostat. By having the temperature in your house automatically regulated, you can save money on your utility bills. Cost: Starting at $50.

Line Dry Your Clothes

Line dry your clothes.  Yes, hang them. Dryers don’t even come with an “Energy Star” rating - that’s how bad they are in terms of energy consumption. Line or rack drying your clothes saves a ton of energy and prevents CO2 from entering the environment.

Naturally Unclog a Drain

Naturally Unclog A Drain With Vinegar, Baking Soda And Water: Pour 2/3 c. baking soda down drain, add 2c. white vinegar.  Let set for 30 min.  Pour tea kettle of boiling water down drain and done!

Another reason to strip

In summer, increase your thermostat and wear fewer, lighter clothes, and save money!

When the ?!%# hits the fan

When the heat hits the fan, it saves you money. Consider using an interior fan in conjunction with your a/c to spread the cooled air more effectively.

Turn crap(py) into happy

Give your extra crap away and feel better. Find needy homes or charitable organizations for things that you no longer need or want rather than throwing it away.
