Strawmanor is a straw bale filled eco-vacation retreat in the Texas Hill Country, in Canyon Lake, near New Braunfels. An hour outside both Austin and San Antonio. Strawmanor is committed to conserving nature, providing an eco-friendly place for fun and vacations and contributing to protecting the environment. We are nestled on two acres filled with deer, a variety of birds, and plant life. We over look Canyon Lake in the town Canyon Lake where there is very minimal development and an abundance of fresh air, flora, fauna, wildlife, opportunities for hiking, sailing, fishing and simply enjoying the great outdoors. The straw used to build Strawmanor came from Texas farms between San Antonio and San Angelo. By using straw we used a more healthy building material with fewer toxic chemicals and by using a recycled waste product we also did not participate in the usual over production and consumption cycle that hurts the environment. The house itself is a healthy place to reside because of the improved air quality from both the straw filled walls and its location in Canyon Lake where there is minimal pollution and an abundance of plant and animal life.

100% organic, in-your-face tee shirts about being green and socially progressive. For women and men, large and small.
Okay, we’re down with saving the planet and being good green citizens. But good citizens don’t all have to wear blurry looking tie-dye and baggy unstructured dresses shaped like sacks. At GreenFly we want to reinvent green tees. With great art – beautiful, hairy, colorful, in-your-face graphic art. And we pair that with slogans and verbal ideas that make you laugh and think about what we need to do to save the planet. Every shirt is 100% Certified organic cotton made by Fair Labor Association certified manufacturers – a non-profit organization promoting international labor standards and improving working conditions worldwide.
Our inspiration comes from the actual green fly (not aphids ya’ eejits; real green flies from the family Calliphoridae aka blowflies). Found around the world, the maggots of this fly will eat dead animal tissue while leaving live tissue intact. So they’ve been used for thousands of years – and are still used today - to clean wounds, leaving perfectly pink, living tissue ready to be dressed in the operating room or the battlefield.
So what looks like a bad, grungy, scumbly thing (the maggot) is actually an all-natural excellent thing. And that’s what GreenFlyShop.com is: organic tee-shirts with fantastic wearable art that kicks you in the ass and says: “Do the right thing, ya’ nit – save the planet”.
After all, saving a planet is a big job and we all have to do our part.
Sitting on his porch waiting to have the power restored in the wake of Hurricane Ike, Artist Nate Mack was inspired. Determined to ensure, at least, some of the debris didn’t make it to the landfill, he decided to turn it into art and has been doing it ever since. “Repurposing this ‘trash’ into art has been a fun and rewarding project that I hope to continue long into the future” he said.
Each unique piece is both art and history . The uncompromising quality coupled with the affordable pricing makes owning a piece of his collection realistic for everyone.
Nate and the artwork are available at Green Market on Sundays from noon to 4pm.
